The brief

What it needed to do

Proofline is a concept website for a small-batch sourdough bakery. The home page is one baking day that scrolls sideways, from the night mix to the evening bake-out, followed by a page of loaves on paper tags, an about poster, a journal and a contact page.

The approach

How it was designed

A loaf round for the neighbourhood, shown as a paper punch card: a regular loaf collected from a hatch on a set day, presented as an idea rather than a shop.

The build

How it was made

The concept has these pages: Home, About, Loaves, Journal, Contact.

Features shown as ideas, each labelled Concept on the page and with no working service behind it: Loaf round, Week of loaves.

The search angle

How this concept could help in search

The search opportunity

People looking for a local bakery search for fresh bread near them, for what a particular loaf is and for how to keep bread fresh. A page set that names each product, answers common questions and publishes useful guides could serve that intent.

How the concept is set up to use it

  • A loaves page with a heading and description for each product could match the specific phrasings people use for the bread they want.
  • A journal of short how-to guides could attract people searching for baking and bread-keeping questions and give the site useful content beyond a menu.
  • Consistent business details and a clearly named area across the footer and contact page could support local results.

A concept shows a direction. It does not rank on its own: results depend on the content, the competition and links over time, and nobody can promise them.
